Review: Matilda
Rating: ★★★★ (4/5)
Title: Matilda
Author: Roald Dahl
Illustrator: Quentin Blake
For ages: 7-12
Genre: Kids Fiction
This book is the story of a small rather curious little girl named Matilda who by the age of three taught herself to read. Her thirst for knowledge and unbeatable curiosity made her quite different from kids her age. But how awful it is to see a child like her being repeatedly criticized by her parents who think she will never succeed! Despite all the things she'd been called by her parents she is determined to get her own back.
When Matilda starts going to school she meets her teacher Ms. Honey the sweetest who understands that she is a unique kid and helps her out. The humble teacher was thrilled by the amount of knowledge Matilda had and guides her all along.
Matilda soon discovers a power within herself and helps Ms. Honey by teaching a lesson to the wicked headmistress. The fun is real!
The language is easy to read, interesting, and with a pinch of humor which makes it all the more lovely, fun read. The characters have been very well portraited. Dahl's creative use of imagination keeps us flipping the pages. The illustrations are delightful!
This was the first book I read by Roald which kept me hooked till the very end and made me a fan and since then I've read many such books by him that were amazing such as The BFG, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory! Books by him are always warm and comforting. Even adults will enjoy this!
